Unit 5-02: Daily Fantasy Sports: Overview and Treatment Strategies

Purpose:
Over the past few years, Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) has become explosively popular – yet many debate whether it is a legal pastime, or an illegal game of skill or chance. During this webinar, we will examine the differences between fantasy sports and daily fantasy sports, look at how advertising, state legalization and popular opinions affect the public’s perceptions of DFS, and examine treatment strategies, including the Ten Positive Substitutes, amongst other options.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, the participant will be able to:

• Differentiate between Fantasy Sports and DFS;
• Understand how advertising, state legalization and popular opinion affect the public’s opinion about DFS;
• Define what problem gambling entails and use a 3-question diagnostic test;
• Determine whether DFS is gambling;
• Review different treatment strategies for DFS players; and
