Class Description
This class explores the relationship between trauma, PTSD, and gambling disorder, highlighting how traumatic experiences contribute to the development and maintenance of problem gambling. Clinicians will learn to recognize trauma histories, understand PTSD diagnostic criteria, and appreciate the unique clinical needs of clients using gambling to cope. Emphasis is placed on assessment, gender and cultural considerations, and evidence-based integrated treatments.

- Define trauma and PTSD according to DSM-5 criteria
- Identify at least 3 risk factors or populations with elevated trauma exposure linked to gambling disorder
- Describe 2 challenges in assessing trauma and PTSD in gambling treatment settings
